FilterKilter is an independent editorial and comparison website that helps people compare laptop specifications and identify which laptops are a good match for specific software and games. The Site is informational. We are not a retailer, reseller, or manufacturer. We do not sell, ship, warrant, or service any of the products listed on the Site. All purchases are transacted between you and the third-party retailer or manufacturer whose link you follow.

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Site, and at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction to make a purchase from any retailer linked from the Site. By using the Site you represent that you meet these requirements.

You agree not to:

• use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
• scrape, crawl, harvest, or systematically extract data from the Site except via mechanisms we make publicly available for that purpose;
• attempt to interfere with, compromise the integrity or security of, or overload the Site or its infrastructure;
• reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of any part of the Site;
• use the Site to transmit malware, spam, or any other harmful or deceptive content;
• impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity; or
• circumvent, disable, or attempt to circumvent any access controls, rate limits, or authentication mechanisms on the Site.

All content on the Site — including rankings, buying-guide text, editorial blurbs, compatibility scores, page layouts, the FilterKilter name and logo, and the underlying software — is owned by FilterKilter or its licensors and is protected by U.S. and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual-property laws. You are granted a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and view the Site for personal, non-commercial use. You may not reproduce, republish, repackage, resell, or build a competing comparison or aggregation product from our content without our prior written permission.

Product names, images, specifications, logos, and trademarks referenced on the Site are the property of their respective owners and are used for identification and informational purposes only. Their appearance on the Site does not imply endorsement of FilterKilter by those owners.

The Site contains affiliate links. When you click one and complete a qualifying purchase at the destination retailer, FilterKilter may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. As an Amazon Associate, FilterKilter earns from qualifying purchases. Full details are in our Affiliate Disclosure, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

The Site contains links to websites, products, and services operated by third parties, including retailers and manufacturers. We do not control those third parties and are not responsible for their content, privacy practices, return policies, warranty terms, order fulfilment, payment processing, or product quality. Your dealings with any third party linked from the Site are solely between you and that third party, and are governed by that third party’s own terms and policies. We encourage you to read them before transacting.

We take reasonable care to display accurate product information, but prices, stock levels, configurations, promotions, model numbers, and specifications change constantly and are controlled by the retailer or manufacturer, not by FilterKilter. Any pricing or availability information shown on the Site is a snapshot taken at a particular moment in time and may be out of date by the time you view it. The retailer’s own product page is always the authoritative source for the final price and configuration you will actually receive. We do not guarantee that any price or deal will be available when you click through, and we do not price-match.

Compatibility scores and rankings are editorial opinions produced by matching published specifications against published software or hardware requirements. They are not guarantees of performance. Actual performance depends on factors we cannot observe from specifications alone, including thermal design, driver maturity, firmware, the specific software title and settings you use, and manufacturing unit-to-unit variation.

The Site provides general information to help you compare consumer electronics. It is not a substitute for professional advice and should not be relied on as the sole basis for a purchase decision, particularly for business-critical, safety-critical, or accessibility-critical deployments. You are responsible for verifying that any product you purchase actually meets your specific needs.

The Site and all content on it are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranty of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, FilterKilter disclaims all warranties, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components, or that any information on the Site is complete, accurate, current, or reliable.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event will FilterKilter, its owners, operators, contractors, or licensors be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunity, arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the Site, any third-party product or retailer linked from the Site, or any content on the Site, whether based in contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability, or any other legal theory, and whether or not FilterKilter has been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the Site and these Terms will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or damages, so some of the above exclusions may not apply to you.

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless FilterKilter and its owners, operators, contractors, and licensors from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to (a) your use of the Site, (b) your violation of these Terms, (c) your violation of any third-party right, including any intellectual-property or privacy right, or (d) any transaction you enter into with a third-party retailer or manufacturer linked from the Site.

Our handling of information collected through the Site is described in our Privacy Policy (once published). At a high level: we use standard server logs and privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate Site usage; we do not sell personal information; and affiliate networks we work with may set cookies on your browser when you click an outbound link in order to attribute a sale.

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Site at any time, with or without notice. We may also update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Site after a change takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site at any time, with or without cause and with or without notice. On termination, the provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive — including Sections 4, 9, 10, 11, and 15 — will survive.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Site will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
